Problem 9.5 will be much more interesting if you use the Mathematica program provided
on the book's website (click on "Useful Links").
Do one of 9.13, 9.19, 9.22; this is optional for undergrads.
- Assignment 3 (due Thursday, Feb 1)
Read Hartle Chap. 8.
Do problems 8.2, 8.3, 8.4, 8.6, 8.11.
Optional for undergrads: explore further the motion of test particles and
photons in the wormhole metric, eq. (7.39). You are free to do this in any way you want. Be
creative!
- Assignment 2 (due Thursday, Jan 25)
Read Hartle Chap. 6-7.
Do problems 6.6, 6.14, 6.15, 7.2, 7.5, 7.9, and 7.17.
Optional for undergrads: Read carefully Box 3.1 and do problem 7.3.
Explain why "using incorrect reasoning gives the right answer" for this problem.
