Adam Dempsey

Adam is a PhD student in the department of Physics and Astronomy at Northwestern University. Advised by Professor Yoram Lithwick, he works on several topics related to astrophysical fluid dynamics and planet formation. These include understanding how rotating stars transport heat by convection, how stars transition from convective heat transport to radiative heat transport, and how newly formed planets interact with their surrounding protoplanetary disks. Adam’s work extensively uses the Quest computing cluster at Northwestern as well as computational resources provided by XSEDE.
