Alex is a PhD student in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at Northwestern University. Advised by Professor Claude-André Faucher-Giguère, he uses the FIRE galaxy formation simulations to study stellar feedback regulated star formation. He is most interested in how supernovae from dying stars can prevent the formation of new stars by driving turbulence in the interstellar medium and by ejecting mass in powerful galactic winds. He is also interested in scientific data visualization and helped to create Firefly, an interactive, web-based, and publicly available visualization platform that he uses to visualize his simulation output.
