Department:

Jonatan Jacquemin Ide is interested in modeling the physics of accretion disks. Specifically, he is interested in astrophysical disks around black holes, neutron stars, and dwarf novae. Accretion disks and their outflows are very nonlinear and complex to model with simplified methods. Magnetohydrodynamical turbulence has an important dynamical effect on the physics of accretion and ejection around disks. The numerical cost of 3D numerical simulations complicates acquiring a complete understanding of the complex physics involved. Jonatan focuses on hybrid methods combining numerical simulations and semi-analytical models. Jonatan is working with Prof. Sasha Tchekovskoy.
