The annual American Astronomical Society (AAS) Editorial Board meeting took place at the Center for Interdisciplinary Exploration and Research in Astrophysics CIERA over two days in late April this year. The in-person gathering included approximately 40 lead editors and science editors for the AAS journals (including Astrophysical Journal Letters, Astronomical Journal, Astrophysical Journal, and Planetary Science Journal) and represented a broad cross section of distinguished astronomy, astrophysics, and planetary scientists from universities and research centers around the world.

“This meeting is critical,” says CIERA faculty member Frederic Rasio, the Joseph Cummings Professor at Northwestern, and editor of ApJ Letters. “It allows us to review the state of the journals, discuss editorial policies, and ensure a consistent approach to peer review across the different journals and editors.”
Rasio has served as the ApJ Letters Editor since 2013.
