The primary goal of this series of meetings is to discuss recent progress that has resulted from observations (here broadly defined to include any messenger of information, including photons, particles and gravitational waves), as well as to review examples of how gigantic leaps in our understanding of the Universe have often resulted from key observations—not necessarily guided by theoretical predictions.
