For the third year in a row, Research Assistant Professor Aaron Geller was awarded an Enabling Science Grant from the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope Corporation (LSSTC), to fund undergraduate research in projects related to LSST science. Dr. Adam Miller, Prof. Vicky Kalogera and Prof. Raffaella Margutti serve as Co-Investigators.
This grant will fund three students to work with Aaron and other CIERA faculty and postdocs for a full year on independent research projects related to supernovae and transients, multi-messenger astronomy with LIGO and LSST, and stellar variable stars. Over the summer, these students will also join CIERA’s Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program, and participate in all our summer activities, including computer programming workshops, science communication training, field trips, panel discussion on grad school and career paths, and research seminars from CIERA faculty.
