For the fourth year in a row, Research Assistant Professor Aaron Geller was awarded an Enabling Science Grant from the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope Corporation (LSSTC), to fund undergraduate research in projects related to LSST science carried out at the Vera C. Rubin Observatory. Dr. Adam Miller and Prof. Wen-fai Fong serve as Co-Investigators.
This grant will fund two students to work with Aaron and other CIERA faculty and postdocs on independent research projects related to supernovae, transients and variable stars expected to be observed by the Rubin Observatory. Over the summer, these students will also join CIERA’s Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program, and participate in all our summer activities, including computer programming workshops, science communication training, field trips, panel discussion on grad school and career paths, and research seminars from CIERA faculty.
