Selim Shahriar

Selim Shahriar is currently the head of the Laboratory for Atomic and Photonic Technologies at Northwestern University. He is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. He is currently the Director of the Division of Solid State and Photonics in EECS. He is also a member of the Center for Photonic Communication and Computing, the LIGO Scientific Collaboration, and the NSF Center for Integrative Graduate Education and Research Training (IGERT) on Quantum Coherent Matter and Fields.

His current research interests include Gravitational Wave Detection, Measurement of Frame Dragging Effect, Super-luminal Propagation of Light, Cooling and Trapping of Neutral Atoms, Quantum Computing, Optical Data Buffering, Fast-light Enhanced Rotation Sensing, Nano-fiber for Optical Switching, Holographic Image and Video Correlators, Polarimetric Imaging, Optical Coherence Tomography.
