Postdoc Sanaea Rose named to second cohort of RCSA fellows

On April 11, 2025, the Research Corporation for Science Advancement (RCSA) announced its second cohort of RCSA Fellows, including CIERA Lindheimer Fellow

Sanaea Cooper Rose. The RCSA fellowship is designed to increase faculty excellence in the physical sciences through job search preparation and community building. RCSA Fellows benefit from professional development and support throughout the multiyear program, which aims to help them transition to tenure-track faculty positions.

“It’s an honor to be selected as an RCSA fellow,” says Rose. “I’m excited to join a supportive community of peers who are passionate about the production and dissemination of knowledge and having a positive impact on the communities around them.”

Sanaea studies interactions between stars and stellar remnants in dense star clusters. Her work focuses on how these interactions lead to unique stellar populations and drive extreme events like collisions, mergers, and tidal disruptions.

The (RCSA) is a private foundation that funds basic research in the physical sciences (astronomy, chemistry, physics, and related fields) at colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. It creates and supports communities of early career researchers through two core programs — the Cottrell Scholar Program and Scialog — as well as the recently launched RCSA Fellows initiative.
